Epic EHR Migration & Sharp App Development

Challenge

Sharp HealthCare's move to Epic, the industry's gold-standard electronic health record, created an opportunity to rethink the patient portal app experience. The goal was to tailor the app to how Sharp patients actually think and move through care, not just follow Epic's default flow.

Role

As project manager for the Digital Experience team, I led product, UX, and content teams through the Sharp App design and build alongside the broader Epic launch. Partnering with internal engineering and QA teams and Modea, an experienced app development vendor, we delivered a custom MyChart experience.

Approach

Guided the product, UX, and content teams through the design and launch of an app pairing Epic's MyChart functionality with custom entry points built around what patients use most, wrapped in our own brand and visual language so it felt like a natural extension of the healthcare system, rather than an add-on tool.

Outcome

500K+ activations in year one, 170K+ monthly active users, and $13.4M in savings in year one ($16.8M projected year two), with roughly $12M tied directly to the app.
