- Challenge
- Without a predictable cadence for scoping and promoting work, and without a consistent process for capturing new ideas, work risked going stale, along with the engagement of our product, content, UX, QA, and development teams.
- Role
- As project manager for the Digital Experience team, I led our early adoption of Jira Product Discovery and partnered with two web development scrum masters to build a quarterly roadmapping process.
- Approach
- Built a process for product managers to document and nurture new ideas in Jira Product Discovery, apply RICE scoring, and move them through discovery and shaping, using the same problem- and solution-shaping approach from our design thinking transformation. Taught teams to maintain their idea backlogs, present ideas to architects for approval to move to shaping, and hand off finished solutions to a business analyst, who writes stories, creates an epic, and kicks off the project for development and launch.
- Outcome
- Became early adopters of Jira Product Discovery, turning ideas into product launches through a quarterly roadmap that keeps product, content, UX, QA, and development teams engaged and work moving instead of going stale.
